As part of its mission to community involvement and outreach, the Vallejo Center for Learning Spanish has developed programs to facilitate professional and social flourishing of the Spanish-speaking members of the Champaign-Urbana community. VCLS instructors volunteer to provide English language classes free of charge to the Latino community in Champaign-Urbana. The Vallejo Center for Learning Spanish takes pride in its commitment to serve the Hispanic CU and help build bridges with the English-speaking circles: employers, customers, teachers, civil servants, and bilingual children. The English program unfolds over the course of a full year, developing in distinct stages of Beginner/Intermediate/Advanced levels. The classes feature special guests, linking the students to real-life contexts of English language use in the Champaign-Urbana communities.
